Merchant Navy Day

Jane Watson in her capacity as Patron of the Morecambe Bay Branch of the Merchant Navy Association attended a church service at St John’s Parish Church Morecambe, to commemorate Merchant Navy Day on the 2nd September 2018.

Althams took part in the “Fly the Red Ensign Campaign” by flying a 6 yard red ensign from the company’s flag pole.

“It is very important to commemorate those seafarers who have lost their lives at sea both in conflict and during peacetime. We also need to recognise all those men and women who work in this industry, by its very nature they are often away from friends and family for significant periods of time in an environment that is dangerous and often hostile. We should be thankful for their sacrifice and endeavours. The “Fly The Red Ensign Campaign” is one that Althams will support and I hope to see more Red Ensigns flying on the 1st September 2019”
